Power Outage and Eversource Resident Resources
As a follow up to last night's storm, here are a few helpful resources for Glastonbury (and Connecticut) residents.
Report all power outages using the Eversource customer service line (1-800-286-2000), website (https://www.eversource.com/customercare/ReportOutage), or the Eversource mobile app. The easy-to-use mobile app or outage map can also be used to check for updates. Customers can sign up to receive storm outage updates on the channel of their choice (text, email, phone call) at Eversource.com.
- If you see a downed wire, call Eversource at 800-286-2000 or 911 to report it. Stay as far away as possible until Eversource arrives to make the area safe.
- Before you use a generator, make sure it is connected by a qualified electrician. Always operate it outdoors, as far from the house as possible. Keep it away from doors, windows and air vents to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.
- If you smell a gas odor in your home or business, leave immediately. From a safe place, call Eversource to report the leak at our 24/7 emergency number, 877-944-5325, or call 911. Please remain outside until Eversource can check the source of the odor
Reporting Storm Issues - e.g. fallen trees
To report a storm issue that requires Town staff's attention, please visit www.glastonbury-ct.gov/citizenrequest. Requests may include, but are not limited to, fallen trees or debris in the street/sidewalk, roadside safety hazards, missing, damaged or obscured traffic signs, traffic light issues, and other issues resulting from the storm. Through this portal, requests are automatically routed to the appropriate staff member for resolution. You also have the option to receive real-time updates as we work to resolve the request!
Please drive slowly and safely as the aftermath of the storm is cleared up and pass these resources along to anyone who may find them useful.
