Air Quality Alert for Thursday, July 16

Post Date:07/16/2026 8:55 AM
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has issued a statewide Air Quality Alert for fine particles (PM2.5) through today. Air quality is expected to reach the "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" category again later today.

At this time, all Glastonbury Parks and Recreation camps and programs will operate as scheduled. Staff will adjust activities as needed to reduce prolonged outdoor exposure, including moving activities indoors when possible, increasing rest breaks and encouraging participants to stay well hydrated.

If your child has asthma, a respiratory or heart condition, or is otherwise sensitive to poor air quality, please use your best judgment in deciding whether they should attend today's programs.
Parks & Recreation staff will continue monitoring conditions throughout the day and will notify families if any program changes become necessary.
