CTDOT to conduct bridge inspections in Glastonbury

Daytime lane closures expected Aug. 12–13

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has scheduled routine bridge inspections at three locations in Glastonbury on Aug. 12 and Aug. 13 as part of its statewide highway bridge inspection program.

The inspections will be conducted by GFT Infrastructure, Inc., under contract with CTDOT's Division of Bridge Safety and Evaluation.

The updated inspection schedule is as follows:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 12: Bridge No. 00870 – Route 17 over New London Turnpike
  • Thursday, Aug. 13: Bridge No. 05546 – Route 3 over Main Street

The inspection previously scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 11, at Bridge No. 00389 – Route 17 & Ramp 007 over New London Turnpike has been cancelled.

Temporary lane closures will be in place on New London Turnpike and Main Street between approximately 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day. Traffic impacts are expected to be minor, and traffic control will be provided in accordance with CTDOT work zone safety guidelines. The Glastonbury Police Department will assist with traffic control as needed.

Motorists traveling through these areas are encouraged to:

  • Allow extra travel time during the inspection period.
  • Follow posted traffic control devices and reduced speed limits.
  • Use caution when traveling through work zones for the safety of inspection crews and fellow motorists.
